Full Description of this Group

The Wensleydale Rural community group started in 2002 and is made up of volunteers from the local area. The aim of the group is to provide opportunities for members of the local community to come together to strengthen relationships and improve a sense of community through developing pride of place, a greater community spirit and fostering more of the cohesive, caring and resilient community.

To achieve this we usually run two social events a year. One in Dec/Jan and the other in July/Aug. At these events we have activities for children and adults to help them interact with and get to know each other. We also work closely with with other groups that assist the community such as CFA, Landcare, Bendigo Bank, Surf Coast Shire etc.

Some of the activities that are organized for the social gatherings are;

  • Trivia
  • Xmas decoration classes for the kids
  • Coin toss for prizes
  • Soccer/Cricket/Footy games
  • We also hire musicians from the local area
  • Trading Table

We provide BBQ's for families to bring their meat to cook. It is usually requested for households to bring a plate for everyone to share. We have on average 120 -150 people attend these events and it varies from 25 - 45 families from the area.
