Winchelsea Community House

Committee of Governance

Our volunteer Committee guides and oversees our objectives, responsibilities, and performance. Governance is a very important component of a successful community centre, and requires a mix of people with different skills, experience, and perspectives to ensure we meet our obligations and match what our community needs and looks for. Note that this is quite different from hands-on volunteering – you can find out more about volunteering here.

The Committee of Governance meets typically on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, except December (Christmas party) and January (no meeting). Meetings are usually 6:30pm to around 8:30pm. Members are able to attend in person or online. Guests are very welcome with prior notice, please contact the Manager for meeting details and to register attendance. Most meetings are open matters, but guests may need to leave the room for confidential/sensitive items on the agenda.

In between meetings, there may be email discussions on particular topics, and you will likely be involved in projects and/or tasks in which you have a particular interest or skill.

If you’re thinking of contributing to the high-level strategic planning and guidance for our community centre, please get in touch to find our more and to see if we’re suitable for each other.

If you’d like to formally apply to join the Committee, please complete and submit the online application form below.
