The weekend of April 12th and 13th saw an enthusiastic group of Conquerors set off to walk and talk as they made their way to Inverleigh. This year’s event saw 187 participants take part across the weekend.
To ensure there are no financial barriers we aim to continue to run conquer the Corrugations as a free event. The continued support of Winchelsea IGA and Bendigo Bank allows this to happen. Ashwani and his family very generously donate food and drinks for this event and financial funding from Bendigo Bank covers items such as insurance. Colleen Trewhella and Robyn Black prepare and cook up the fabulous food.
Once again, the Inverleigh and Winchelsea Lions Club members performed an amazing job of setting up the rest stops with seating and providing refreshments. Hesse Rural Health kindly supplied trained staff, a tent and massage table for participants to receive a well deserved massage. Hesse has now joined forces with Conquer and we welcome them onboard.
Toilet block is supplied by Geelong and Coast Hire and transported and cleaned by Deb and Mark Menheere. Shower block supplied by Bellgrove Hire and transported by Charlie Earl. The bus, that allows all participants to safely complete the walk, is driven by Mick Stocks and Jason Gambino. Bus fuel is donated by Eblock Transport.
We also have Public Speakers attend the event allowing them to share their stories and knowledge. From Let’s Talk Colac, Kirsty Oborn, openly discussed her mental health journey and the information and support Let’s Talk offers. Little Emma from Darwin spoke of her struggles with mental health and the positive impact Conquer the Corrugations has had. A staff member from Hesse Rural Health spoke of the assistance and support available within Winchelsea for people dealing with mental health concerns.
As you have seen, it takes many kind and generous people, to allow an event like Conquer the Corrugations to be successful. The Conquer teams are very grateful to everyone for their contribution.
